CareAline adds PPE to Production Line to Protect Essential Workers and the Community Fighting COVID-19.

Danvers, Massachusetts; May 28, 2020 – For Immediate Release

As announced by Governor Charlie Baker, CareAline Products LLC, a Massachusetts company that manufactures medical garments, is utilizing their factory to make personal protection masks and isolation gowns for essential workers and the general population to help combat the spread of COVID-19.

CEO and Co-Founder Mike Fitzgerald announced this weekend that he added production to make reusable masks to be used for personal protection as the state begins to implement a staged reopening plan. The company confirms that their goal is to ensure everyone is protected, especially those on the front line fighting this virus, to help reduce the spread as we come out of isolation.

“Battling cancer in our family for the past 10 years, I’ve had to wear all sorts of masks from single use, to reusable respirators. Using my experience and working closely with our infectious disease and nurse advisors, I wanted to make sure we produced masks and isolation gowns that would be reusable and affordable, but also protective”, says CareAline Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer Kezia Fitzgerald.

“Our goal when creating the CareAline Everyday Mask was to find safe, protective materials, and make sizes to fit kids through adults. Our team came up with the DesignMe kit to give our kids a chance to express themselves on their own mask without compromising protection, and without complaining about wearing a mask. The kit comes with masks and fabric markers so everyone can turn their protective wear into something as unique as they are. We are still innovating with individuality in mind and designing an “active” mask which will have protective qualities, while being lighter in feel.”

Fitzgerald also shared that CareAline has completed testing of their level 1, and is in the final testing stage of their level 2, isolation gowns and will be bringing those to production for their healthcare partners and essential workers at high risk of COVID-19 exposure.

“We are an immunocompromised family owned company, and we want to help combat the spread of COVID-19 for the safety of others as much as for our own.” says Fitzgerald

CareAline is a locally owned company founded in 2012 by Kezia and Mike Fitzgerald with a manufacturer based in Massachusetts. They have experience with innovating out of necessity and bringing products to market. The CareAline brand began with the need to protect their daughter Saoirse’s PICC and Central Lines while undergoing chemotherapy for Neuroblastoma. Kezia has continued to innovate through her stem cell transplant in the fall of 2019.

Unfortunately, Saoirse succumbed to her cancer in 2011, but the Fitzgeralds were able to bring their patented products to market with a personal mission to help patients live safely and fully by providing clinically proven, necessary products to hospitals and patients.
