OUR MISSION

CareAline is a patient led company dedicated to increasing patient safety. Our vascular access securement garments are clinically proven to reduce complications and improve safety for patients of all ages with implanted medical lines and tubes.

OUR STORY

Founded by Kezia Fitzgerald – two time cancer survivor and bereaved cancer mom – CareAline takes the patient perspective and uses it to drive clinical change in the hospital system to increase safety and comfort for patients with complex medical needs.

Kezia has always been a problem solver, creating and innovating solutions to many every day obstacles. She created and iterated the design of the CareAline® Sleeve for PICC Lines and the CVC Wrap for Central Lines while she and her daughter, Saoirse, were in treatment their cancers in 2011.

Kezia’s unique, proactive view of healthcare and talents for continuous innovation have spurred the creation of new products and designs to improve quality of life for patients and caregivers that also meet the needs of ever-changing hospital staff workflows and hospital safety protocols.

Erin was excited to join the CareAline team in the spring of 2019. As a 15 year veteran nurse with a background heavy in case management, she enjoys working with a team, and problem solving in order to promote healthier, safer and happier outcomes for patients.

Her clinical and direct case management experience spans many settings from home, skilled nursing and hospice. Case management required Erin to serve as a clinical liaison between patients and their families, physicians, various therapy specialists, and payors – which has provided her with a vast amount of knowledge in regards to the needs of individuals with complex medical diagnosis and multiple disease processes.

Chief Medical Advisor Director, Pediatric Infection Control, UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital

Claudia Hoyen, MD, is a pediatric infectious disease specialist in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Rheumatology, and Medical Director, Infection Control at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. She is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious disease. Special interests include antimicrobial resistance, colonization with antibiotic-resistant pathogens and molecular epidemiology.

Dr. Hoyen’s research interests include pediatric infectious diseases and their molecular epidemiology. She has authored or coauthored more than two dozen papers in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented at more than a dozen medical and scientific meetings. She is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, Infectious Disease Society of America and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society.

Cassie Brugger

Regulatory / Clinical Trial Advisor

With nearly a decade of healthcare experience spanning clinical trials, outcomes research, quality improvement, and assessment of new healthcare technology, Cassie is passionate about products and tools that help to deliver the right care at the right time for patients and their families. As a Program Coordinator for Research and Quality with Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Heart and Vascular Center, Cassie supports the Center’s participation in national clinical data registries for research, regulation, and reimbursement, as well as other quality initiatives.

Cassie holds an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Colorado, Denver with a research focus on public health and health behaviors in vulnerable populations. She graduated with a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a minor in Political Science and Certification in Peace and Conflict Studies.
